Animate X Lewisham
The Fellowship
30 - 31 Oct 2025
Event details
Animate projects offer young musicians from year 5 upwards opportunities to play together and create their own music in a ‘young person’s orchestra for the 21st Century’. Bringing together young people from a wide range of musical interests and backgrounds, Animate courses are fun, sociable and musically adventurous.
For our next project – Animate X Lewisham – Trinity Laban is now seeking young musicians aged 9 – 14 to take part. The project will take place over 2 days during the half term break and take inspiration from the spooky, ghoulish Halloween season! Led by Sarah Freestone and a team of specialist tutors and student musicians from Trinity Laban and Lewisham Music, this is a fantastic opportunity for any young person in the early stages of their musical development to experience the thrill of large group music-making and explore their own creativity.
Priority will be given to applications received by Tuesday 30 September. Places on this project are limited so we suggest sending in your application sooner rather than later, as we may not be able to offer everyone a place.
Who is this project for?
- Anyone who plays any instrument (including music technology).
- Priority will be given to more experienced young musicians aged 9 – 14, who are grade 2 standard upwards (or equivalent), and interested in making their own music. You don’t need to be able to read music to take part.
- Young people from Lewisham and other neighbouring South East London boroughs, are particularly encouraged to apply, especially those who have taken part in past Animate projects.
When does this project take place?
- Thursday 30 October (09:30-15:30)
- Friday 31 October (09:30-15:30)
Project fee: £36, with discounted rates for siblings (£18) and Pupil Premium/Free School Meals-eligible (£9)
